Personalized Care for your Specific Season of Life

Young Adults

Finishing high school and emerging into adulthood can be exciting, and yet also overwhelming. Societal expectations to start working or go to college, achieve big goals, travel, gain independence, date or even settle down, and look happy while doing it all can ultimately feel like too much pressure. And spoiler, it is too much pressure. I work with young women to shed cultural, societal, family and personal expectations that are not serving them and reconnect with their deepest strengths, desires and values.

Growing Family, Pregnancy, and Postpartum Care

Joy and sorrow often run parallel with each other during this season of life. Women who are wanting to grow their family face many weighty decisions while holding on to hope and possibly experiencing grief, regret, guilt, or worry all at the same time. Women who are approaching childbirth or are postpartum are often asked to “do it all”, sometimes with very little planning or support. There are so many hopes and expectations that are often met with beauty and intense joy, but also deep overwhelm, fear, fatigue, and disappointment. My office is a safe harbor for women in these seasons to not have to hold onto it all, even just a moment. We weep, breathe, hope, sort-through, gain clarity, and find support and coping skills that honor each woman in the way they need most. Most importantly, I seek to reconnect women with their inherent intuition and essential strengths during a season when it is easy for these qualities to become clouded.

*1 in 7 mothers experience depression or anxiety during pregnancy or postpartum according to Postpartum Support International.

*Black, American Indian, and Alaskan Native women are 2-3 times more likely to die of pregnancy related causes than White women according to the CDC.

If you are experiencing depression or anxiety during pregnancy or postpartum, don’t wait for help! Additionally, if your physical or emotional concerns are not being taken seriously by your professional community, we will work together on an advocacy plan so that you obtain the support you need.

Motherhood

While rewarding and fulfilling at times, motherhood is HARD. There is no handbook and often women are just trying to make it through the day…even better if there can be a little intentionality behind all of the care and decisions that come with motherhood. We live in a very individualistic culture which may have its pros, but when it comes to supporting women as mothers, our society lacks in essential ways. This leaves many mothers feeling isolated, under-resourced, under-appreciated, unsure of their parenting efficacy, struggling with marriage, struggling with sex and intimacy, experiencing uncertainty at work or at home, in their faith and relationships, and overwhelmed with all of the demands and expectations. I work with women to strengthen their sense of identity in the many roles they occupy in this season. To shed the “should” statements and expectations (I “should” be able to do this, this “shouldn’t” be this hard), set healthy boundaries, take better care of themselves, and show up for themselves and their family in the ways that are most important.

Trauma Recovery

Individual trauma results from an event(s) or circumstances that were physically or emotionally harmful or life threatening and has lasting adverse impact on physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and social well-being. Trauma can also be a collective experience when a group or community experiences harmful or life threatening events or set of circumstances. I work with women who have experienced any type of trauma move towards healing with a gentle approach, prioritizing each woman’s sense of safety and control in each session. There are many methods that can be used in a trauma focused session including narrative therapy, IFS, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and EMDR (see resources page for more information) and I collaborate with each woman to develop a trauma recovery plan that best fits their needs and personalities.

Sex and Intimacy

If you are a woman or a couple wanting to heal, gain confidence, refresh or renew your sex life, you’ve come to right place! I work with women and couples as they are navigating whatever season of intimacy they are experiencing. Sex is so often a taboo topic to discuss (even for many therapists) but not here! I am a firm believer that a healthy, quality, passionate sex life is not only possible, it is a deeply important part of the human experience. Come with all of your history, hurts, vulnerabilities, fears, wishes, and hopes and we will work together, non-judgmentally, to find ways to empower you in this area of your life.

Therapy for Therapists

The best therapists are the ones who take care of themselves! They explore their own triggers, needs, desires, and vulnerabilities. Sitting on the other side of the couch can be humbling yet incredibly rewarding and I welcome therapists to come let their guard down, release the heaviness they hold, and seek healing for themselves. Therapists of any age, gender, experience level and season of life are welcome.

I promise that I go to therapy too.
